Starting March 12, 2026, the validity period of the SSL certificates we issue for the first time will be uniformly adjusted to a 199-day + 199-day model.
Adjusted Issuance Method
Before the adjustment, a one-year certificate was issued once for 395 days; after the adjustment, a certificate with a 199-day validity period is issued initially, and the system will automatically reissue a new certificate with a 199-day validity period half a month before the certificate expires. A one-year purchase results in certificates being issued 2 times in total, covering approximately 398 days cumulatively.
It should be noted that this is not a renewal based on the original certificate, but rather the system triggering a reissuance process and generating a completely new certificate. The validity periods of the old and new certificates are calculated independently.
Why This Adjustment Is Being Made
This adjustment comes from an update to global industry standards and is not aimed at any single organization. All CA organizations have implemented it in sync. The purpose of shortening the validity period of a single certificate is to reduce the risk window after a certificate key is compromised.
Impact on Customers
For customers, no additional action is required. The system will automatically complete the reissuance before expiration, which ensures business continuity and eliminates the manual application step.
