Several implementation directions for enterprise digitalization

Digitalization is not complete just because tools have been brought into the company. This article outlines several directions that small and medium-sized enterprises can truly put to use.

Digitalization is much discussed, but for small and medium-sized enterprises, the real question is often not whether to do it, but where to start. Rather than pursuing a big, all-encompassing solution, it is better to start from a few specific directions.

Direction One: Bring customer information together

For many companies, customer information is scattered across personal WeChat, spreadsheets, and paper records. Once personnel changes occur, this information is easily lost. The first step is usually not to adopt a complex system, but to first bring customer information together in a unified, searchable place so the team can share and follow up on it.

Direction Two: Make your online presence usable

Many companies have an official website, but it has not been updated for a long time, the information is outdated, and the user experience is poor. Such a site not only fails to bring in customers, but also creates a negative impression. Rather than building a new one, it is better to first tidy up the existing site: Is the information accurate, is the structure clear, and is it usable on mobile?

Direction Three: Keep producing content continuously

Online customer acquisition increasingly relies on content. But content is not a one-off campaign; it is daily work that requires continuous investment. Small and medium-sized enterprises do not need to pursue output volume; the key is to find a direction they can consistently produce for—the questions customers often ask and real problems in the industry are all suitable material.

Direction Four: Use tools to reduce repetitive work

Repetitive tasks such as customer service replies, data organization, and report statistics are suitable to hand over to tools. Using the time saved for places that require judgment is the most direct benefit of digitalization.

Do subtraction first, then addition

A common misconception about digitalization is wanting to build a complete system right away, resulting in large investment but little implementation. A more feasible approach is to first find the most painful link, solve it, and then gradually expand.

To judge whether something is worth doing, you can ask three questions: Does it happen repeatedly, are there clear rules, and is it easy to correct if something goes wrong. If it fits, it is suitable to do first; if not, you can put it aside for now.
